Springing Into Skin Care!

Spring has sprung, and quite frankly I couldn’t be happier! Its time to break out the beautiful oranges and corals we’ve all been missing. Sadly my skin hasn’t received the memo about the weather we’ve been having and I’m suffering from some mega dry skin! I’ve been trying to take extra care of my skin so I’ve made a few changes to my nightly skin regime.

I start off by using a micellar cleansing water by Simple. Where has micellar water been all my life? This product is so gentle and helps to remove my makeup before I cleanse. Now that I've discovered this product I can't go a day without it.

Next up I wash with my Clinique facial wash. I use the formula for dry to dry combination skin. I picked this product up a few months ago at my local Clinique counter for about $16. It’s a very gentle product that leaves my skin feeling refreshed. It doesn’t have a very pleasant smell but it seems to get the job done, which is all I’m really after.

Next its up its time to exfoliate, I only do this step 2-3 times a week depending on how my skin s behaving. I’ve been using the Benefit Cosmetics Refined Finish Facial Polish. I love this one as it has just enough to help buff my skin without being to harsh. This one is a little bit pricey, but for the amount needed and the quality of the product it’s most certainly worth it. At this point I’ll apply whatever mask I happen upon, then it’s onto moisturizer.

I’ve been switching between two moisturizers. The first being derma e: Evenly Radiant Brightening Night Crème, this is a very thick product, a little goes a long way. It’s done wonders for my dry patches. The smell of this is also not my favorite but some sacrifices must be made. The second is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream. To be honest the smell of this one isn't great either, but it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and cool.  The first time I opened this product I spilled it all over myself! I just wasn't anticipating for it to be so watery.  because of it's texture it almost immediately absorbs into my skin.

Now I wouldn’t say that my nightly routine has completely taken away my dry skin but it is helping, and always I will continue to search for new and wonderful products to try.

What’s your nightly skin care routine?

Lipstick Loves

Currently the weather out side is awful, with super chilly temperatures and a foot of snow on the ground, all I seem to want to do it lay about the house all day. Which means I have spent most of my day tucked away under the covers reading George R.R. Martins, A Dance With Dragons. If you haven't read any of the series, go, run, buy the books! Winter is definitely coming for the heroes and villains alike in the tale and it is most certainly upon my little city now. So with the intention of not completely wasting away the day reading, I figure why not tell you all a little about my two current winter lip favorites!

I've been loving the dark lip look, especially with a beautiful matte finish. I have heard plenty of good reviews about both of these products and I most certainly recommend them myself!

First up is MAC's Velvet Teddy, a gorgeous soft brown color. I picked this up recently and I admit at first I thought my pale skin and this color would not be friends. But I must say, I was mistaken. I love the formula, it last and last I rarely have to reapply. It never feathers or smudges which is blessing! On me this is a dark but still quite natural shade, with a bit of a 90's feel (I'm pretty sure my sister owned a shade similar to this back it the day). This is the first MAC lipstick I've ever used and I'm sold!

Next up is the amazing Rimmel London, Lasting Finish by Kate in the shade 107 (I actually have a few colors from this line-all of them are amazing). This product was on the cheap end but holds it's own against the MAC formula. It's a dark vampy red and I feel ridiculously sexy when I have this product on. No bleeding, not feathering. I apple this over a red lip pencil just to really make it pop.

What winter lip shade are you rocking this season?

Long time no blog! Ulta haul and life update.

I know I've been MIA for a while, 2014 was a pretty rough year of me. This year is bound to be better! I recently bought myself a new camera which I am most excited about. I also got on the iPhone band wagon. Between health issues, school and work last year just didn't seem like the best time to get things going with this. But now is the time! I'm just as busy, still in school, still working hard but now I have everything I need to make this blog a success at my disposal. So Lets get cracking on my mini Ulta haul!

First up are two NYX palettes. I got this both on sale for very cheap. The 8 pan palette I just had to have, that pink color was just to beautiful to pass up. The 5 pan palette I picked up because I often find myself looking of that prefect shade of brown.  I have a few other palettes from Nyx and I love the formula. They are quite pigmented and blend very easily.  I also picked up a NYX eyeliner pencil on sale in a soft pink shade, which was also on an amazing offer and I just can't say no to a good deal!

Now the Rimmel London Stay Matte, is a pressed powder that I've heard a lot about from different bloggers. I have very dry skin so powders often sit heavy on my skin but I still find  need something to set my foundation or by noon at work I look as though I'm melting! I've been using it now for about a week and so far so good. I apply it with a large fan brush with a light amount of pressure and
it seems to do the job without making me look too flakey.

I've been on the hunt for a new shampoo and conditioner combo. Not only due I have dry skin, I have dry damaged hair. I'm always on the hunt for a good product to help give me some moisture. As a recommendation from a friend, I decided to pick up the, OGX Nutritional Acai Berry Avocado Shampoo and Conditioner.  First off let me just say they smell like heaven! They made my hair feel so soft and look so shinny. I'm in love! I'm so glad I gave this product a shot, because I think I found my new favorite hair duo!

Leave me a comment and let me know what products you've been loving lately!

Beauty Haul

This morning was my dear friend Kristen and her husband Matt's baby shower. They're having a little boy and I couldn't be happier for them. After the baby shower I decided to run to Target to stock up on some beauty supplies. I recently ran out of my current facial cleanser and scrub. Of course one can never go and buy only what is needed! So all in all, I ended up finding a couple good offers I couldn't pass up. So lets get started. I haven't tired any of these products yet so I will review them on a later post.

The first offer I came across was on Neutrogena. I haven't tired many of their products, but when I saw the buy two get a free pack of makeup removing wipes offer, I figured I'd give it a go. I decided to go with the Deep Clean cream cleanser. I'm about one wash away from finishing my current facial cleanser so the need is desperate. It was approximately $7 dollars for a 7oz bottle, so not a bad price at all.  For my second Neutrogena pick I got the Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub. I am lucky to have been blessed with pretty clear skin as far as spots go, but I do still deal with very annoying blackheads. This product has the salicylic acid acne treatment in it, which I hope doesn't dry out my skin, as I am already prone to dryness. We shall see! The price was about $6 for a 4.2 FL OZ bottle. Last up for the Neutrogena products is the free makeup remover cleansing towelettes. I don't normally do pre-moistened wipes but I can definitely give them a try.

The next offer I came across was on Olay all day moisturizer with sunscreen. I always try and use products in the summer that have and SPF. I am very fair and try my hardest to protect my skin. When purchasing this product you receive a free sample of the Olay Total Effects scrub cleanser.  I had already picked up a bottle of just the moisturizer when I saw the free sample one for the same price of about $9 for a 4 FL OZ bottle of the moisturizer and a 1 FL OZ bottle of the scrub. Lucky for me I was paying attention to the end caps on my way to the check out!

I also picked the Elf Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in the shade In the Nude. I haven't tired any of the Elf products yet and saw that this lip color was only about $2 so I just tossed it in my basket.

So that's my first beauty haul! Let me know if you have tired any of these products and how they've worked for you. I'd love to read your comments!

One...Two...Three...GO!

Well, here we are. I've been wanting to start a blog for months now and finally figured what the hell I'll give it a shot. This year has started out really rocky and its only taken a turn for even stranger. I need a stress release and something that is just for me and this is it. I'm a very big bookworm and normally have my nose stuffed in a book or reading a blog. It will be interesting to see what my own words will be like.  Bare with me as I get the hang of formatting, as this is the very first time I've attempted something like this. I'm supposing the theme of this blog will be mostly beauty/fashion and nerdy things. Hopefully you'll enjoy what you read (if anyone's reading) if not, I'll still have fun.

I'll post more tomorrow I just wanted to get this introduction out of the way because I'm just so excited!
